Born and raised in Baltimore City, Jim Kraft has fought for the community—as an activist, as a leader in the Democratic Party, and as a neighbor for over 30 years. A father of three and grandfather of four, he also understands the opportunities and challenges of supporting a family in the City.

  • Chairman of the 46th District Democratic Central Committee
  • President of the United Democratic Club of the 26th Ward
  • Vice-Chairman of Quo Vadis Democratic Club, Board of Governors
  • Member of St. Casimir Church

Councilman Kraft serves as the City Council representative to:

      • The Maryland Municipal League (MML), where he is the chair of the Legislative Committee
      • The Baltimore City Commission on Historical and Architectural Preservation (CHAP)
      • Clean Air Partners, and
      • The National League of Cities Inclusive Communities Partnership

He is also on the Board of Directors for:

  • The Greektown Community Development Corporation
  • The Friends of Maryland Olmsted Parks and Landscapes, and
  • The Baltimore Regional Chapter of the US Green Building Council.

Councilman Kraft is a Baltimore City Democratic Central Committee member for the 46th District and has been a member of the Maryland Democratic Party Executive Committee for 30 years. He is also a proud member of his neighborhood association, the Patterson Park Neighborhood Association, and the Friends of Patterson Park.

As your First District Baltimore City Councilman, Jim Kraft is currently the Chair of the Judiciary and Legislative Investigations Committee, Vice Chair of the Land Use and Transportation Committee, and a member of the Public Safety Subcommittee.
